Well....., during my third term one week holiday, I did not go anywhere as my brother is having his PSLE. His exam is just around the corner. However, I have an interesting experience to tell you.
On Tuesday, it was my mother's birthday!!! In order to celebrate her birthday, we went to a Japanese restaurant,"Sakura" to have our Buffet Lunch. The food there was great. It had a wide spread of selections. These includes Sushi, Udon, seafood, 16 different types of drinks, desserts, Ebi (deep fried prawns in batter), crab meat, steamed 'Pao' (dumplings) and Chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg), roast chicken, mushroom soup, ice-cream, laksa, roast duck, grilled seafood and wide selection of warm cooked dishes like fried rice, vegetables and many more.
Whew! we had a spectacular time there stuffing ourselves silly with those different types of food. I enjoyed it so much that I even had 5 servings of ice-cream!
My parents promised us that we would go there again on my father's birthday too. I really enjoyed myself there. Too bad you guys were not there with me.........
Other activities which I did during the holidays was playing tennis with my father and brother.
We also visited the library during the holiday weekend as this was like a ritual after our tennis game every week.

The Biejing Olympics 2008
This years' Olympics is held at Beijing. The opening ceremony was on the 8th August 2008 and at 8 p.m. It is an important sporting event as people from different countries get a chance to compete with each other .
Well, in this Olympics, Singapore had won a silver medal. By the looks on the faces of Li Jiawei, Wang Yuege and Feng Tianwei, we know that they had tried their best to get the gold medal but did not.
Another amazing thing is that Michael Phelps who has won EIGHT GOLD MEDALS! WOW! He's truly our Olympic champion.
I've ever seen an Olympic event on TV. The sport was table tennis. It was very exciting.
I think Michael Phelps impressed me the most. He had put in a lot of effort to win eight gold medals. We are very proud of him.
In my dreams, I've always been thinking of participating in the Olympics. I would like to take part in table tennis. I think it is a fun sport.
I will always remember Michael Phelps advice, ”Nothing is impossible. With so many people saying it couldn't be done, all it takes is just imagination.”

National Day Celebration
Happy Birthday Singapore!! My favourite day that I have been waiting for. It was the day when Singapore became independent 43 years ago . We celebrated it to remember its independence. It was really a fun-filled day!
We celebrated National Day in school by raising the flag, singing the national anthem and saying the pledge. Anyway, we have always been doing that everyday.
I think our school National Day celebration was quite meaningful . For the P5 and P6 students, they went to Sembawang Park to jog.
For the P3 and P4 levels, we made a collage with red, white and black seeds.
For P1 and P2 levels, they had mini sport in school.
I think the school principal has a proper programs and arrangement for each levels. I had so much fun pasting the seeds to form a sign related to Singapore.
Please remember, celebrate the Singapore spirit!

Racial Harmony Day
Ah......., Racial harmony Day, my favourite day, where by I can have fun the whole day. It is usually the day when people from different races gather friendship. There were plenty of food for us to try, plenty of games for us to play during recess. It was defitnely a wounderful day.
Afte recess, there was a show about harmony. It was a bit funny and we did learned something extra.
After that show, we learned how to make a Bunga Manga. It was quite fun making them.I wished we could bring them home.
At disssmissal, our relif teacher dissmissed us earlier. I hope that today could be every day!!

Netiquette
Have you ever wonder what is Netiquette?Well, It means cybercourtesy. Being considerate is also another way to show cybercourtesy.Everything starts with you.
Remember! Always display good manners and mutual respect in cyberspace!
Netiquette is very important. In real life, if we do not have it, we would be running around, screeming and shouting among ourselves. It is also the same in cyberspace, saying all those vulgar words, hacking into people's account, and all sorts of bad things.
A lot of us like to go to the chat rooms to chat with our friends. Sometimes, you are even talking to people whom you don't even know!
I suggest you should quit the chat room. But it is ok if you write your post in your own chat room in your blog.

cyberbullying?
Well, cyber bullying is a bad thing you should't do. It may harm others and even you. we do not want to be a cyberbully nor do we want to be bullied.so, we have to stop cyberbullying.
A lot of us like to gossip about other people.we should't do that as it would make things worse.
Also, we will be knowned a "cyberbully".
How are people engaged to be a cyberbully? Actualy, they made a big, big mistake at the beggining. For example, if you recieve an Email from your friends which has vulgar words, like asking you to send that same message to three other people,I advice you to ignore it. If you don't, the emailer will have a bigger impressions about himself or herself, and also think he or she is very great.
The best idea is, we should put up a sign to inform pupils that cyberbullying is bad, like" If you wouldn't do it in person, why do it online?"

During the HOLIDAYS!!
I had an extremely fun and exciting holiday!I went to JB,The Pulai Deseru. I stayed there for 4 days three nights.I played the pool table with my brother even though I was under 16 years old. Then, I went to the swimming pool. As I had been there about14 or 15 times, I was used to everything there;the pool table, the swimming pool, the beach, thefood there and all the facillities over there.
when I was at the pool, I metmy kinergarden friend, Wen Min. She had two brothers too!we played the whole morning until it was time to go.
In the afternoon, me, my father and brother played tennis at the tennis court there.we also had a great time too!
On tuesday, which is the second last day, we met again and went down the slide altogether! It was quite a bit scary sliding down.
On the last day, we packed up and went to check out. I wished that my parents could bring me there again!

My Reflection on Earthquakes
Causes of Earthquake
An earthquake is a shaking or trembling of the crust of the earth.
It is caused by underground volcanic action. It can also caused by the
breaking and shifting of rock beneath the surface.
What to do when there is an earthquake
In order to protect yourself during an earthquake, you must remember the following rules : “ Drop, Cover, and Hold On!”.
These rules help during quakes that cause furniture to move about rooms, and even in buildings that might ultimately collapse.
Dropping means go down on your hands and knees.
Covering means covering your head (and your body by being under a strong table if possible).
Holding means holding onto furniture (even if it is moving).
In cases where an earthquake is less violent, you might be able to move to a safer place (e.g. away from breaking windows, etc) as you drop to the floor, cover your head, and hold on to a solid object.
If you are trapped in a collapsed building :--
Do the following :-
- protect your airway against dust and debris.
This can be done by breathing through clothing or material (preferably a dust mask if one
has been stored near their desk, bed, or other accessible location).
- check yourself for injuries. If there is bleeding, control the bleeding.
- find a source of light if possible.
- make your location known to rescuers by tapping on a solid object with a rock or other
instrument.
- save your breath and energy. Delay yelling for help until you hear rescuers very nearby.
Can earthquakes be detected
Earthquakes can be detected but not predicted.
It is difficult for scientists to predict when large earthquakes will occur with any kind of reliability or precision needed to warn communities of impending disasters.
However, animals can predict earthquake. Some signs to watch out for:-
- catfishes moving violently
- chickens stop laying eggs
- bees leaving their hive in a panic
- Pet owners claimed to have witnessed their cats and dogs acting strangely before the ground
shook, barking or whining for no apparent reason.
Places where earthquakes occurred
Earthquakes have struck cities and countries such as Los Angeles, Alaska, California, Java, Mexico, Sumatra, Japan, Italy, Greece and the recently, China.
Why earthquakes occurred in those countries
Those countries experienced earthquakes because of their geological position which lie on the earthquake belt.
Earthquake and Singapore
Singapore will not experience any earthquake because its geological position does not lie on the earthquake belt. However, when Sumatra experience one, Singapore would experience a mild vibration.

My School Canteen Food
Well, the food in the canteen is not very clean. However, the truth is: The food there is tasty! I have been eating food in the canteen for the past two years! My favourite stall is stall no. one, stall no. five and stall no. eight.
I like these stalls because I am not allergic to the food they sell. By the time I have eaten the food from either one or two stalls, my stomach is already filled!
I do not think the drinks at the canteen is clean. I only buy packet drinks . I just feel that the stall owner do not wash the cups properly.
However, the food and drinks there are healthy. It can be a healthy diet. There are fruits, balance meal like nasi lemak, noodle soup, rice and dishes. They do not sell sweets and other unfavourable tidbits.
I hope to have food like spaghetti, udon, roti prata and pizza sold in the canteen.
I think the school should have renovated the canteen during the June holidays .
They should put more stalls and more lights. The canteen should be well lit. It is very dim and gloomy, especially when the sky overcast, the canteen is like a haunted house.
The colour of the canteen should not be blue. It should have bright colour on the wall to bring out the happiness in each children. The blue colour wall make the pupils gloomy and dull.

HFMD
Hand , foot and mouth disease is a very serious illness that will cause you to fall sick. It may even cause death. We must always practice good hygiene. As for me , I was sick last week due to throat infection. I got the virus from my brother.
The next day, I felt a bit better. But , I was also not able to exercise or exert myself. I was very upset as I could not enjoy my favorite sport, tennis.
On Sunday, I felt even better. I was feeling even more energetic. Now , I am ready to go to school!!!

Friendship
Do you know what is friendship is? Well, it is when you first introduce yourself to new friends or start talking to them.Soon, you will start being their friend. I t is really easy being friends but it only depends on how kind orfriendly you are. Sooooo, this is how friend ship begin. Friends are for you to cheer you up when you are sad about something or unhappy. If you did something bad to your friend, immedeatly apologise to them. That way, you will brighten up their mode. Friends are also to accompany you when you are lonely.
My Best Friend
My best friend is Jason. He is also my tennis-playmate. We spend time together during recess. When I have difficulties in my work, he is the only one who come forward and help me.
Jason is my class monitor. He is a very disciplined, happy, hardworking and cheerful boy. He has a Chinese father and a Korean mother. His father is working in Korea. His mother is not very good at English. He is the one who translates English to Korean and vice versa for her.
He is also very helpful. He likes to draw and he is very creative. He can keep secrets. He wears a pair of glasses. He does not laugh at me when I get low marks for my test. Instead, he will correct my mistakes. He is also not selfish and is kind and caring.
I wish that I can grow up with him. I enjoy being his friend. I hope that I will be same class with him for the next few years in Anderson Primary School.

International Friendship Day
Two days ago was a very special day. It was the International Friendship Day ! It was the day to recognize your friends and their contribution to your life.
Friendship helps to bring peace and positivity to the globe. Hence it is a great reason to celebrate!
Children from all over the world celebrate International Friendship Day in all ways.
This year, in Anderson Primary School, there is a donation drive to the needy families for one of the Primary Schools in Philippines. Mr. Yazid, one of our school teachers initiated the drive by asking students to donate some stationeries and used story books.
As for me, I donated three bags of used story books and a bag of new and used stationeries. Besides pencils, I donated ten new rulers, two boxes of new erasers, a few packets of crayons and colour pencils, a few pencil cases, drawing blocks and a few sharpeners. I am proud that I had done my part to help them and make these children happy.
During recess, there was a Tae-Kwan-Do demonstration in the hall by a few secondary pupils. They showed us a few ways to defence and attack. After that, a few pupils went up the stage to challenge them. Some of them were thrown onto the ground. They had put up a fantastic performance.
I enjoyed this year's International Friendship Day. It is somehow different from the previous years. I hope more students will contribute to the donations.
A pencil, a sharpener, an eraser or a used story book does not seem important and mean much to us, however, it means a lot and it is very valuable to the needy children in Philippines.

Sports Carnival
Sports Carnival
Last Friday, my school had its' very first Sports Carnival. Thanks to Mr. Tan, our school principal, who made this first ever sports carnival very extraordinary. There were games stall and food stalls. I was very excited on that day.
On that morning, when I reached the school hall, I saw many students did not bring their school bags. They carried only their story book and wallet. I sat down to read my story book until it was time to sing the national anthem and the school song. After that, we had some exercises followed by cup games taught by three primary six pupils.

Our recess was extended to one hour. During recess, I had to guide a pupil from Chao Yang Primary School, our neighbouring school. I accompanied an Indian boy to the Parade Square to play some games. We also went to the canteen to have some refreshment. Next, we played the bouncy slide together and I also accompanied him to the school eco-garden to explore more about nature.
At the eco-garden, I realized more and more Chao Yang pupils had been following me. I was like a tour guide to them! I explained to them what were the names of the different types of plants there and the organisms that could be found in the eco-garden and in the pond.
I felt very happy that I was able to show them around and did my part to guide them and brought some joy and sunshine to them.
I hope the school would have more of this type of activity. I look forward to next year's Sport Carnival.

Computer Games
Computer Games
I used to playing computer games like Maple Story and Club-Penguin. When I was young, I played computer games from 7:30 am to 8:00 am while my brother was at school.
After many weeks of playing computer games, I was addicted to it! It was a habit of after waking up, brushing my teeth , drinking my milk and then started to think about playing computer games but nothing else early in the morning
Due to the frequent playing of computer games, I could not sleep well one night. I was too engrossed in playing computer games that my mind was still very active throughout the night.
Hence, my parents decided to stop me from playing computer games. I was swollen with grief and was inconsolable. I did know what to do. I was bitterly disappointed about it.
From then on, I had to go through live without playing computer games. I started to play brick games, i.e. “Lego”. I started to assemble Bionicle models. It was really fun assembling Bionicle models.
Now, the only opportunity I can play computer games is at the school, on every Tuesday, during recess. However, the access to the games websites had been blocked recently. I somehow miss the old days when I had the opportunity to access to these games website.

Chinese New Year
On the first day of Chinese New Year, I went to temple with my family after my breakfast. It was a very ordinary day.
However, my second day of Chinese New Year was very interesting.
On the second day of Chinese New Year,my father brought my family and I to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. It is a place where we could observe birds and many other living things in nature.I was very excited.
When we reached there,we parked our car and went to buy our tickets. After that, we started tracking along the path. Then, we passed a long bridge. Guess what I saw?? There were three sea otters by the bank of the Kranji River mouth. They were taking a dip in the brackish water.
At the same time, I saw many fishes in the river. Some of them were enormous. I saw a terrapin swimming gracefully in the water too ! I was quite suprised with what I saw.
While walking on the gravel path, I spotted a squirrel chewing tree barks. I realised that this place is very interesting. My father video taped it. It was alerted and scampered away. (You can scroll down to view the video)
Suddenly,I felt something crawling on my thumb. It was a big red ant! I was so scared that I screamed and beat it.In the end, the ant died. I was relief.
After a while, we came to an aerie which was about four stories high. It was quite scary climbing on it as it looked like it was going to break. It was quite tiring climbing the steps. At the top, it looked like a tree house. We could observe birds from that height. I spotted many egrets, kingfisher, heron and storks.
At last, I reached the exit. I was very tired but enjoyed myself very much. However, I was very reluctant to leave.I wished that my parents would bring me there again.

My First IT Lesson
Last Tuesday,I had my first IT lesson.I was very excited because I had an opportunity to use a laptop!
Mr. Justin taught us how to use a laptop. He reminded us to open the laptop gently. He also taught us where the "ON" button was, how to recharge the laptop and where to attach the mouse to the laptop.
After his explaination, we were asked to start "Microsoft Word" to create some documents.
However, we had not enough time tofinish our project. We had to shut down our laptops. I was quite dissapointed. Anyway, at least we had a chance to use the laptop!
I am eagerly looking forward to my next IT lesson.
