It was last Friday. It was not very boring as I was not running. The fun part that was we got to hit the ball! Mr Derick tan was hit by the ball and fell!!Poor thing! Anyway, I hope that the school can improve by letting the spectators participate in other activities as they might get a little bord. For me, I kept myself occupied by playing coins. At least they supplied us with food or I will be hungry for brains!!

What problems are the earth facing?
POLLUTION

Pollution occurs when people dump rubbish into rivers, lakes, beaches, ponds, etc. This is water pollution. Pollution causes water to be dirty and unclean. It harms living organisim living in it. If there is an oil spill, when you walk on the beach, you will see black oil stains on the sand.
WEATHER CLIMATE

Weather climate is a sudden change in the weather. Weather is the mix of events that happen each day in our atmosphere including changes in temperature, rainfall and humidity. Weather is not the same everywhere. Perhaps it is hot, dry and sunny today where you live, but in other parts of the world it is cloudy, raining or even snowing.
CORAL REEFS UNDER THREAT
There are many coral reefs disappearing very fast. Due to coral bleaching, there is a problem. This means that soft corals simply vanish in response to environmental stresses. If bleaching continues to intensify, the entire soft coral species may go extinct before they are even discovered.

Target seting
The purpose of setting targets is to aim what marks we want for various subjects. It is our goal and what we want to archive.
I think it is useful for students as they will work towards the marks by (e.g.:try not to make careless mistakes, do more revision, pay attention during lessons, etc)
We must set the targets that MUST BE ACHIEVABLE.For example, if you set your target to 100 marks, YOU BETTER WORK TOWARDS YOUR GOAL.
My parents are helping me to achieve by giving me revision.(REMEMBER: practice makes perfect...)I must put in my heart in whatever I are doing.

My Chinese New Year

Weeks before Chinese New Year, we did spring cleaning. A few days before Chinese New Year, for four consecutive days, my brother and I helped my mother to make New Year cookies. We started with chocolate chips cookies followed by cashew nut cookies and semprit biscuit.
My mother bought two pineapples to be placed in the house to symbolise good luck. We had three boxes of mandarin oranges to give friends during new year as a way of wishing them good luck.
My father planted four red radish in pots. This symbolises the abundance of luck .
First day of Chinese New Year, after our lunch of Longevity Noodles, we prayed at a temple Waterloo Street. The temple was very crowded.
The days were spent eating the cookies that I baked and watching movies at home and having lots of fun.

Total defence day
Yearly,on 15 February, Total Defence day falls on Singapore. It is the day when the Japanese invade Singapore in 1942. Singapore commemorate Total Defence Day to remember that everybody can play a part to defend Singapore.
I would like to defend my family, my home, my neighbourhood and my country from harm and wish everybody to live in a peaceful country. I must show respect and care towards my family members and the society and always be ready for emergency.
In times of threat or crisis, apart from defending and protecting our love ones, we should also protect and defend our cherished and closed bonds with each other.

The school's Mission And Vision
Hi everybody,
I would like to talk about the school mission and vision.
Our misson:Providing quality education to equip pupils with the values, knowledge and skills for the 21st century.
Our vision:A School of Distinction Nurturing Future-Ready Citizens of Character.

I think everybody should adhere to the school values. We should display good manners to teachers and friends. We should behave well and listen attentively during lessons.
I believe in the school values as everybody needs all the values in order to become
a future-ready pupil.
Students should always remember the school values when engaged in any activities both in and outside school. We should behave ourselves even we are outside our school compound by not playing at the bus stop, running and making noise in the void deck and misbehaving during excursions.
I can live up to the school values by paying attention in class, be a sincere and helpful person and always show respect to people who are older than me, especially the elderly.
To help us learn this values, the teacher can tell us more about famous people who possess these values so that we can follow their way of living as role models through stories telling, slides, videos, dramas put up by students, exhibitions and visits to National Library to look for and borrow books on these famous people.

My December Holidays
During my December holidays, I went to Bintan Island, Indonesia. I travelled there by ferry. The ferry journey was short and fun . The waves was not rough and choppy. when I arrived, it was only 9:15 a.m. I did not eat anything since waking up. When I reached my hotel, I was amazed by the scenery and the marvellous pool overlooking the sea.
In the evening, when it was low tide, we went to the rock pools to explore and look for living organisms. We were facinated with all the living things we saw. We spotted two pairs of fishes swimming vertically, many tiny fishes, a butterfly fish, a large prawn which was camouflaged in between the seaweed, a blue crab and even a baby octopus!!

The next day, after my sumptuous breakfast, I swam in the pool. There was a jacuzzi,a pool bar and a perfect spot to play water polo. I enjoyed the jacuzzi and went to the beach. I dug a hole as deep as my hip level while my brother built a pyramid.

For the next two days, the weather was bad.It was raining and the wind was blowing strongly. We played in the pool instead of the beach in case we caught a cold.
When I returned home, I felt very relax and a deep sense of satisfaction. I really enjoyed myself a great deal at Bintan. I wish I could go there again. However, I wish the means of transport to the island would be a better one.

The one week holiday......oh yeah!
Well....., during my third term one week holiday, I did not go anywhere as my brother is having his PSLE. His exam is just around the corner. However, I have an interesting experience to tell you.
On Tuesday, it was my mother's birthday!!! In order to celebrate her birthday, we went to a Japanese restaurant,"Sakura" to have our Buffet Lunch. The food there was great. It had a wide spread of selections. These includes Sushi, Udon, seafood, 16 different types of drinks, desserts, Ebi (deep fried prawns in batter), crab meat, steamed 'Pao' (dumplings) and Chawanmushi (Japanese steamed egg), roast chicken, mushroom soup, ice-cream, laksa, roast duck, grilled seafood and wide selection of warm cooked dishes like fried rice, vegetables and many more.
Whew! we had a spectacular time there stuffing ourselves silly with those different types of food. I enjoyed it so much that I even had 5 servings of ice-cream!
My parents promised us that we would go there again on my father's birthday too. I really enjoyed myself there. Too bad you guys were not there with me.........
Other activities which I did during the holidays was playing tennis with my father and brother.
We also visited the library during the holiday weekend as this was like a ritual after our tennis game every week.

The Biejing Olympics 2008
This years' Olympics is held at Beijing. The opening ceremony was on the 8th August 2008 and at 8 p.m. It is an important sporting event as people from different countries get a chance to compete with each other .
Well, in this Olympics, Singapore had won a silver medal. By the looks on the faces of Li Jiawei, Wang Yuege and Feng Tianwei, we know that they had tried their best to get the gold medal but did not.
Another amazing thing is that Michael Phelps who has won EIGHT GOLD MEDALS! WOW! He's truly our Olympic champion.
I've ever seen an Olympic event on TV. The sport was table tennis. It was very exciting.
I think Michael Phelps impressed me the most. He had put in a lot of effort to win eight gold medals. We are very proud of him.
In my dreams, I've always been thinking of participating in the Olympics. I would like to take part in table tennis. I think it is a fun sport.
I will always remember Michael Phelps advice, ”Nothing is impossible. With so many people saying it couldn't be done, all it takes is just imagination.”

National Day Celebration

Happy Birthday Singapore!! My favourite day that I have been waiting for. It was the day when Singapore became independent 43 years ago . We celebrated it to remember its independence. It was really a fun-filled day!
We celebrated National Day in school by raising the flag, singing the national anthem and saying the pledge. Anyway, we have always been doing that everyday.
I think our school National Day celebration was quite meaningful . For the P5 and P6 students, they went to Sembawang Park to jog.
For the P3 and P4 levels, we made a collage with red, white and black seeds.
For P1 and P2 levels, they had mini sport in school.
I think the school principal has a proper programs and arrangement for each levels. I had so much fun pasting the seeds to form a sign related to Singapore.
Please remember, celebrate the Singapore spirit!

Netiquette
Have you ever wonder what is Netiquette?Well, It means cybercourtesy. Being considerate is also another way to show cybercourtesy.Everything starts with you.
Remember! Always display good manners and mutual respect in cyberspace!
Netiquette is very important. In real life, if we do not have it, we would be running around, screeming and shouting among ourselves. It is also the same in cyberspace, saying all those vulgar words, hacking into people's account, and all sorts of bad things.
A lot of us like to go to the chat rooms to chat with our friends. Sometimes, you are even talking to people whom you don't even know!
I suggest you should quit the chat room. But it is ok if you write your post in your own chat room in your blog.

cyberbullying?
Well, cyber bullying is a bad thing you should't do. It may harm others and even you. we do not want to be a cyberbully nor do we want to be bullied.so, we have to stop cyberbullying.
A lot of us like to gossip about other people.we should't do that as it would make things worse.
Also, we will be knowned a "cyberbully".
How are people engaged to be a cyberbully? Actualy, they made a big, big mistake at the beggining. For example, if you recieve an Email from your friends which has vulgar words, like asking you to send that same message to three other people,I advice you to ignore it. If you don't, the emailer will have a bigger impressions about himself or herself, and also think he or she is very great.
The best idea is, we should put up a sign to inform pupils that cyberbullying is bad, like" If you wouldn't do it in person, why do it online?"

During the HOLIDAYS!!
I had an extremely fun and exciting holiday!I went to JB,The Pulai Deseru. I stayed there for 4 days three nights.I played the pool table with my brother even though I was under 16 years old. Then, I went to the swimming pool. As I had been there about14 or 15 times, I was used to everything there;the pool table, the swimming pool, the beach, thefood there and all the facillities over there.
when I was at the pool, I metmy kinergarden friend, Wen Min. She had two brothers too!we played the whole morning until it was time to go.
In the afternoon, me, my father and brother played tennis at the tennis court there.we also had a great time too!
On tuesday, which is the second last day, we met again and went down the slide altogether! It was quite a bit scary sliding down.
On the last day, we packed up and went to check out. I wished that my parents could bring me there again!

My Reflection on Earthquakes
Causes of Earthquake
An earthquake is a shaking or trembling of the crust of the earth.
It is caused by underground volcanic action. It can also caused by the
breaking and shifting of rock beneath the surface.
What to do when there is an earthquake
In order to protect yourself during an earthquake, you must remember the following rules : “ Drop, Cover, and Hold On!”.
These rules help during quakes that cause furniture to move about rooms, and even in buildings that might ultimately collapse.
Dropping means go down on your hands and knees.
Covering means covering your head (and your body by being under a strong table if possible).
Holding means holding onto furniture (even if it is moving).
In cases where an earthquake is less violent, you might be able to move to a safer place (e.g. away from breaking windows, etc) as you drop to the floor, cover your head, and hold on to a solid object.
If you are trapped in a collapsed building :--
Do the following :-
- protect your airway against dust and debris.
This can be done by breathing through clothing or material (preferably a dust mask if one
has been stored near their desk, bed, or other accessible location).
- check yourself for injuries. If there is bleeding, control the bleeding.
- find a source of light if possible.
- make your location known to rescuers by tapping on a solid object with a rock or other
instrument.
- save your breath and energy. Delay yelling for help until you hear rescuers very nearby.
Can earthquakes be detected
Earthquakes can be detected but not predicted.
It is difficult for scientists to predict when large earthquakes will occur with any kind of reliability or precision needed to warn communities of impending disasters.
However, animals can predict earthquake. Some signs to watch out for:-
- catfishes moving violently
- chickens stop laying eggs
- bees leaving their hive in a panic
- Pet owners claimed to have witnessed their cats and dogs acting strangely before the ground
shook, barking or whining for no apparent reason.
Places where earthquakes occurred
Earthquakes have struck cities and countries such as Los Angeles, Alaska, California, Java, Mexico, Sumatra, Japan, Italy, Greece and the recently, China.
Why earthquakes occurred in those countries
Those countries experienced earthquakes because of their geological position which lie on the earthquake belt.
Earthquake and Singapore
Singapore will not experience any earthquake because its geological position does not lie on the earthquake belt. However, when Sumatra experience one, Singapore would experience a mild vibration.
